Wendy Rowden is the President of 42nd Street Development Corporation (42 SDC), the developer and operator of the theaters, restaurants and apartments known as Theater Row.Wendy’s mandate is to expand the depth and scope of the organization’s reach (which is not limited to 42nd Street), using arts as a catalyst to economic development. Since 1997, the organization has funded Music and the Brain, an innovative music program for grades K to 3 that is currently in over 100 NYC public schools

Wendy joined 42 SDC with 30 years of experience in the real estate industry. Prior to joining 42 SDC, she led Jonathan Rose Companies’ Investments where she was responsible for all aspects of the firm’s investment management business. Prior to Jonathan Rose Companies, she served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of The Rockefeller Group.

Wendy is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (Global Chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative, member of the Global Awards Jury and incoming Trustee). She is also an adjunct Professor at Columbia Business School, where she teaches Real Estate Development.

Wendy is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Mai¬monides Medical Center and Safe Space NYC (where she served as Board Chair). She is also a former member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Cushman & Wakefield.
Most importantly, Wendy was one of the earliest members of WX, serving as President from 1997-1999. She was on the initial board of the WX Charitable Fund. WX remains very important to her, professionally as well as personally.

Wendy is the recipient of numerous industry awards, including Bisnow’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Real Estate”, United Way’s “Women United in Philanthropy Award” and Real Estate Weekly’s Top 100 Women in Real Estate”. She holds degrees from Brown University, University of Michigan and New York University.
